“Investing in girls is a moral imperative – a matter of basic justice and equality”

Girl Child Day was celebrated at Bal Bhavan International School enthusiastically to   increase the awareness among students about all the inequalities faced by the girl child in the society. Inequality about girl child is a vast problem which includes many areas like inequality in education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, protection, honour, child marriage and so many.

A special assembly was conducted to make the students aware about the girls position in the society to make their living better among society people. Prayer marked the beginning of the programme followed by the skit which gave the message of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ and that the girls should be given equal importance in the family and the society and they are no less in any way. After the skit, students gave an enlightening speech on ‘Importance of Girls’. Students through their dance performance apprised the audience with the message of saving girl child and creating a healthy and safe environment for a girl child.

Girls of classes 6th to 8th attended the ‘Self Defense Workshop’ organized by Kelvin Institute. The training was very helpful in making them feel confident about their safety.
